Put new pads on my bike and they sweek loud only when I'm stopping under 40mph.
Took them off and sprayed anti-sweek spray on the pads. Sweeking stopped for 10miles or so and then started again.
Took the pads off again and sprayed more anti-sweek on the pads. Same thing happened.
Any ideas??? I called my local Honda dealer and they said "Yup, they all do it. Nothing can be done"
I'll be damned if I'm going to live with it. There has to be a solution. I'm sure it's the piston side pad that's vibrating.

Re: 77 CB750 with front sweeking brakes!!!
Thu, December 28, 2006 - 1:34 PMI have heard the same thing before... Depending on the composition and metal content in the pad...some pads will squeek and thats all there is to it.
Maybe look at the product you are using on the back of the pad. (You are using it on the BACK of the pad where it contacts the piston right?) When I changed my front pads (85 beemer) I got a small tube of a more viscous brake pad anti-squeek lubricant... kinda the consistency of thick elmers glue.
My brakes do still squeek a bit at low speed... not too bad though. -

Fri, December 29, 2006 - 12:26 PMyou can try an organic compound pad, it's usually the ceramic or metallic compounds that squeek... -

Sun, January 7, 2007 - 12:47 PMWho sells the organic pads? I may go that route if these pads don't stop making noise. -

Re: 77 CB750 with front sweeking brakes!!!
Sun, January 7, 2007 - 6:27 PMMost of the aftermarket pad companies have an organic compound. EBC is one company I've used a lot. I'm not sure what is out there for your bike, I typically am working with newer machines.

Re: 77 CB750 with front sweeking brakes!!!
Sun, January 7, 2007 - 12:46 PMYes, I put alot of that anti-sweak lube on the inside of the caliper but still sweaks bad. Yesterday I sprayed alot of the sticky anti-sweak on the piston and backs of the pads. This my last attempt with these pads. I read that it's a matter of the pad imbedding on the rotor and it can take up to 500 to do it...especially if the rotors are not perfectly smooth which mine aren't. They aren't bad but there are a few faint grooves.
