help with my 1977 honda cb400f

My bike's main fuse will randomly blow. I've been trying to see if it happens after anything particular, but it seems very random. The one thing is that the fuse housing is getting hot but only the main fuse blows. if you have any ideas I'd appreciate it.

30 years and insulation can begin to deteriorate, you may have a chafing issue. May want to try to ring each power lead to the frame with an ohm meter set to a very high scale to see if you have a ground in there somewhere. Maybe shake the harness around while you are doing it to try to simulate road conditions. Also check the fuse block itself and make sure the prongs that clip in the main are clean and tight. Some electrolytic grease on the contacts couldn't hurt either. I hate intermittent problems. Good luck.
